Free contract and proposal templates for freelancers (Word and PDF)

Start from a clear draft instead of a blank page. Pick a template, add your details and the other party’s, and download it as an editable Word file or a PDF. These drafts have not been reviewed by a lawyer.

Not reviewed by a lawyer. These templates are general drafts and are not legal advice. Laws differ between countries, so have a qualified lawyer in your country review any contract before you use it. The same notice is printed at the top of every file you download.

What you get and what to check

  • Ten templates in plain English: two proposals, five client contracts (services, retainer, statement of work, mutual NDA, GDPR data processing) and three for freelancers and suppliers.
  • Your company details, the other party’s details and the deal terms are filled in; anything missing stays as a blank line for you to complete.
  • Governing law and courts default to your own country as you enter it. Change them if you agree something else, and check that they are valid for your situation.
  • Terms such as liability caps, notice periods and non-solicitation vary in what courts accept in each country: these are the parts a lawyer should look at first.
  • The templates are written for business-to-business use. Contracts with consumers follow stricter rules.

Questions

Are these templates legally valid?

They are general drafts that have not been reviewed by a lawyer, so we cannot say they are valid or suitable for your situation or country. A contract is only as good as its fit with local law: have a qualified lawyer review it before you rely on it or sign it.

Can I edit them?

Yes. Download the Word file and change anything. The PDF is for reading or printing.

Can I use them for my clients?

You may use and edit them for your own business. Please do not resell or republish them as a product.

Which countries do they work in?

They are written in English for business-to-business agreements in the EU and reference EU rules such as the GDPR and the Late Payment Directive. Whether and how they apply depends on national law, which is why a lawyer’s review matters.

Do they include an electronic signature?

No. They have signature blocks for you to sign on paper or with a signature tool of your choice. Electronic signatures are generally valid between businesses in the EU, but check your needs with your lawyer.

Do you store what I type?

No. The Word file is created in your browser. For the PDF, your details are sent to our server only to create the file and are not stored. If you give us your e-mail address afterwards, we store only that and the template you chose.
